We are actively looking for top talent to join the Market Risk Team to ensure that trading and origination activities are conducted within a robust control framework. The position reports to the Middle Office Gas & Power Manager.

 

The responsibilities we´ll trust you with

 

You will:

 

  • Analyze, model, and report market risk for all trading activities related to gas, power, and environmental commodities.
  • Assess and monitor physical and financial trades, transportation, storage, and foreign exchange deals.
  • Analyze M2M valuations, risk positions, basis changes, and P/L results daily.
  • Develop and maintain risk reporting/analytics to communicate position, P/L, and market risk to traders and management.
  • Coordinate and review deals and prices in the trading system by performing deal checks, price validation, curve updates, and data reconciliation.
  • Monitor timely deal capture, internal trading limits, and risk policy requirements to ensure the representativeness and integrity of transactions in the trading system.
  • Provide critical thinking around risk reporting processes, quantification, and analysis of commodity exposure and forward price movements for multi-product trading activities.
  • Test new risk calculations, evaluate model assumptions against fundamentals, and communicate suggested modeling/valuation enhancements to achieve better valuation and risk quantification.
  • Communicate effectively with Front Office, Operations, Back Office, Trade Finance, and Finance teams on inputs and assumptions.
  • Work closely with traders to quantify and explain the sources of risk in their portfolios.
  • Contribute to the reporting of Trading Results/Positions to senior management.
  • Work closely with Commercial Risk & Back Office, Finance, Trade Finance, Legal, and IT to ensure that the best risk control practices and policies/limits are in alignment from a risk control point of view.

We are looking for someone who is motivated and achieves results, has good interpersonal skills, and thrives in fast-paced environments.

 

Basic Qualifications

  • 2 years of experience in Middle Office Analyst of Power.
  • Degree in accounting, finance, mathematics, engineering, quantitative discipline or business-related major.
  • Knowledge of the electricity markets, both purely economic, developed by OMIE and as adjustment markets, managed by Red Eléctrica (REE) as well as knowledge of REE Settlements.
  • Knowledge of environmental products such as EUAs, CAEs, VERs and UERs.
  • Exhaustive knowledge of power trading, intraday market as well as calculation of several margins as CSS (Clean Spark Spread).
  • Comprehensive understanding of risk management methodologies and valuation models.
  • Desirable SQL programming and Database Administration and familiarity with an ETRM system.
  • Fluent in English.
