Título:  Market Analyst

What do we expect from you?

This role is designed to enhance trading data intended to inform the trading by evaluating and measuring fundamentals, regularly provide data-driven market analysis including building and maintaining supply/demand balance, offer insights from the Advanced Analytics platform and help the trading desks regarding ad hoc requests.

Role Responsibilities:

Provide and offer Refinery outages insights:

• Maintenance of data set; analysis of impact on production.
• Update via teams on significant changes: unplanned outages, fires, accidents.
• Update via market commentary with insights on impact of supply changes towards products.
• Develop analysis to study relationships between outages volumes.

Contribute to the market commentary:

• Inventories.
• CFTC.
• Refinery margins.
• Refinery outages.
• Participation at meetings moves more towards offering insights, versus reporting.

Continue building Advanced Analytics

• Keep data set up to date (oil balances, new refinery capacity).
• Train users and promote the platform.
• Propose new ideas and lead releases.
• Adapt the platforms to current needs (extern data, new units, new products…)

Focus on Fundamentals for the Middle Disitllates Team

• Start to build European skeleton of middle distillates SND.
• Supply: Provide daily updates on outages in Europe.
• monitor the flow from main exports areas (EoS, USG) and highlight the changes.
• Demand: establish for each one of the European countries (Morocco and Turkey) the demand growth in kbd of middle distillates in line with GDP growth.

Think about Origination Analysis

• Find new ideas to contribute to grow the department.
• With a focus on fundamentals.
• Give meaningful insights to ad hoc request.

What are we looking for?

• Bachelors or Master’s in statistics, economics, data-science, mathematics, or related fields.
• Experience in energy-related field is highly valued.
• Proficiency in Spanish and English.
• Interest in the energy industry, curiosity around supply, demand dynamics and price formation, and motivation in making an impact on the viewpoint through the offering of robust analytics and insights.
• Excellent proficiency in MS suite & Python.
• Works well in small analytics team and larger trading team in Madrid and Singapore.
• Disseminating information both verbally and written.
