What do we expect from you?  

The Trading Compliance team in CEPSA Trading is looking for an individual to lead the design and implementation of a strategic programme to enhance CEPSA Trading’s systems and controls to prevent and detect market abuse (insider dealing, market manipulation).

The role would suit an individual with an analytical background and experience gained in an energy and commodities trading environment. A deep understanding of the markets in which CEPSA Trading operates is essential.      

Functions: 

  • Manage CEPSA Trading’s monitoring and surveillance programme to ensure it complies with regulatory expectations and aligns with industry best practice.
  • Utilize surveillance tools and systems to analyse trading data, order flow, communications, and other relevant information to assess trading behaviours and identify potential compliance issues.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and enhancements in surveillance methodologies and tools.
  • Prepare and maintain reports on surveillance findings, trends, and issues, and communicate these findings to the Head of Compliance and senior management.
  • Maintain detailed records of surveillance activities and findings, ensuring compliance with record-keeping requirements.
  • Undertake periodic market abuse risk assessments and thematic reviews.
  • Work closely with compliance colleagues, traders, and other stakeholders to facilitate investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant financial regulations and internal policies, ensuring trading activities adhere to all applicable rules and regulations.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training programmes to enhance the understanding of regulatory compliance among trading desk staff.

 

What are we looking for? 

  • Prior experience of energy and commodity trading gained in front office, operations, risk management or compliance roleHighly skilled in interpreting complex data to make informed decisions.
  • High level of English. 
  • Detailed understanding of physical oil, gas and power markets as well as derivatives.
  • Technical knowledge of market abuse typologies and behaviours relevant to energy and commodity markets.
  • Familiarity with third party monitoring and surveillance technology platforms.
  • Experience of managing complex, multi-disciplinary/cross-functional projects.
  • Advanced IT and coding skills (Excel, VBA, PowerBI) are desirable.
